A few more details
There are crags here that cater to the full range of climbing abilities from grade 4 up. They tend to be easy access with most approaches taking about 5 – 30 minutes. From our accommodation, the closest crags are 5 minutes walk away. It feels great to roll out of bed and straight onto world class limestone, wearing a t-shirt, in winter. Winner.
If your aim is to be leading ‘trad routes’ in the UK this is a great place to go. A solid foundation of climbing technique will result in a far more stylish, controlled and ultimately faster progression when it comes to learning to trad climb in the UK.
Considerate bolting (not too far apart) makes for a perfect introduction to leading. Or for the more experienced it allows the comfort and mind space to concentrate on movement and improving technique. A broad range of grades and styles allows you to develop your climbing in a targeted way.
How your course will run
The courses start from four days in length, a long weekend. We can happily add extra days, for up to 7 days of instruction (plus a rest day after the first 4).
We normally meet the evening before the first day of climbing at the accommodation. Over a drink we’ll discuss the plan for the coming days and find out more about you, what climbing you’ve done and what you’re hoping to get from the trip.
In the morning we’ll aim to get walking to the crag by 9:15 but you’re on holiday so timings are flexible. The days climbing will last roughly 5 hours, which is a lot. On hot days it might be worth splitting the day, in true Spanish style with a siesta, to avoid the midday heat.
Each evening we’ll discuss the day and make sure everyone is happy with the plan. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to build on skills and techniques most appropriate for your level.
It’s all about sport climbing here, single pitch and multipitch, across the grades. This kind of climbing lends itself perfectly to a focus on improving efficient and safe movement skills on the rock. You are free from the challenges of placing traditional protection and can just enjoy the climbing.
There are massive climbing benefits to be gained from a focused sport climbing trip.
